Clipped Sat, Feb 6, 11:36 AM from dailyme.com by | 0 commentsWASHINGTON — "Snowmageddon" -- that's what President Barack Obama calls the storm that's shut down Washington. His motorcade made it a few blocks through deserted streets so he could speak at the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting on Saturday.
Staying for weekend at Capital Hilton, where DNC meeting is going on. Went to lobby and watched delegates file through metal detectors to get into area where Obama was to speak. Watched Secret Service snipers head to elevators, then went up to our room and looked out to see them on roof below, overlooking where president was to arrive. Went back out onto streets and saw motorcade pull down L Street and press corp get out and enter via main entrance. Walked around hotel to go to CVS and on the way back, police told us to move off the street to the sidewalk. A minute or so later, caravan of black SUVs headed in our direction. The smiling face waving from the second vehicle was Barack Obama.
